How fees work

What a visit costs depends on your plan, your child's treatment and the dentist's exam. Here is how we handle each part, and what you can ask us to put in writing.

  • Insurance we work with

We file claims for PPO dental plans. Whether we count as in network depends on your plan, so give us its name and we'll check before you book.

    • PPO plans: we file the claim for you

    • DHMO plans: call first, they work differently

    • Texas Medicaid and CHIP dental plans: tell us your child's plan and we'll answer for it

  • If you pay yourself

Without insurance you pay the fee for the visit, and we tell you what it will be before treatment starts. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

  • Receipts for reimbursement

If you pay us and your plan pays you back, we give you an itemized statement of the visit to send in. Your plan decides what it pays.

  • An estimate in advance

We give a written estimate in advance to anyone paying without insurance, and to anyone who asks. It lists the treatment, the visits it takes and what it is expected to cost.

    • Ask when you book or at the visit

    • In writing, before treatment starts

  • Checking your benefits

Before the first visit our front desk reads your plan's benefits and tells you what the plan says it covers. The figures are the plan's, so if its estimate differs from ours we show you both.

  • What the first visit includes

Plan on about 45 minutes. Your child gets a look at the room and the tools, then an exam, X-rays only if the dentist decides they help, and a talk with you about what we saw. Bring your insurance card, a photo ID and a list of your child's medicines.

    • An exam, and X-rays the dentist decides on

    • Your options, and what they cost, in writing

    • Time for your questions

An estimate is our written account of what we expect to bill, not a final fee. If your child's dentist finds something new once treatment is under way, we tell you before we go on.

More about paying

Can I get a written estimate even if my child has insurance?

Yes. Ask when you book or at the visit, and we'll write down the treatment, the visits it takes and what it is expected to cost.

What if the plan pays less than the estimate?

A plan's estimate is the plan's, not ours. If its final payment differs, we explain the difference before you pay and go over your options.

What if I can't pay all at once?

Ask us. Financing is offered by third-party lenders, and approval and terms are set by the lender. Ask the front desk for the lender's own terms before you decide.
